The Moon Lord is dead.
While leading a group of his clone soldiers on a routine scouring of a backwater plane's sentient life, he was caught by surprise by an unknown assailant.
With his death, his lands are left up for grabs, and the power balance of the universe has been thrown off. The universes Dark lords, tyrants, dragons, and gods, already in fierce competition with each other, are thrown into chaos.
But the one who killed him doesn't care about that.
Vix, travelling galaxy-class prize-fighter, has only one goal: Find the best fight in the universe. And the Moon Lord sure wasn't it.
There's a thousand tin-pot dark lords out there, and a hundred-thousand overgrown worms, lizards, and fish people call gods. So the bets on: how many of them can Vix defeat? And how many will it take for the really nasty ones to start noticing?
Mod Eater is a combination review series and fanfic thingie that really seemed like a good idea when I first conceptualized it. The series follows Galactic Prize-fighter Vix, a wandering nuisance who uses her inhuman toughness, unorthodox kung fu, and bottomless arsenal of conjured weapons to take on the nastiest things in the universe of Terraria.
The original idea was pretty straightforward: people write a lot of really fun and cool story and original characters into their Terraria mods, so if I want to review that material, it wouldn't be fair to it to just analyze it as a detached third party.
The best way to honor the creativity and spirit of that writing, I decided, would be to craft my own character to engage with it head-on, and produce a larger narrative that would give those mod OC's the stage to strut their stuff as proper villains, rivals, helpers, and characters.
Anyway, long story short, the project has been in development hell for a while due to a large quanitity of personal factors. After the pilot was published, things kind of collapsed. But Mod Eater is on its way.
Since that pilot, the characters are being retooled, the basic story has been tightened, and the stage is now set for an exciting exploration of our version of Terraria's world and characters! The team working on Mod Eater right now is very excited to see the project move forward, even if it'll still be a while longer to wait.
